Lady + Lili Candle Co.
Overview
It was such an amazing experience helping Lydia create her logo and website, Lady + Lili Candle Co. Lydia began creating candles during the pandemic and soon enough turned her hobby into a side business! She was selling her candles to close friends and family and they encouraged her to sell them online. Lydia had already started to create her site, but she was having difficulty bringing her vision to life. The original site is shown below.

Logo
When talking to Lydia about her logo she mentioned she wanted to incorporate a butterfly, or a ladybug. As I was brainstorming I tried out different color schemes as well as different elements. In the first rough draft I chose shades of purple and added ladybugs and a lily in the middle of the company name. For the second option I chose warm neutrals with only the butterflies on the Lโs of the company name. For the third rough draft I used a dark green background with sage green lettering. I kept the butterfly on the L of โladyโ and added a flower with a ladybug in between โladyโ and โlili.โ After showing Lydia the options she told me which elements she liked. She loved rough draft #2 but wanted to incorporate the ladybug on the flower from rough draft #3.
Color Palette/ Mood Board
Lydia stated she wanted either warm neutrals, with hints of brown and sage green, shades of purple, or a more modern look with a classic white and black look.
While redesigning Lady + Lili Candle Co.โs site I decided to incorporate the same color scheme found on the logo. I kept the same warm neutral tones with a pop of sage green throughout the site.
Takeaway
Working with Lydia to help her vision come to life, allowed me to also have a new learning curve. As this was my first e-commerce website that I was able to design, I learned how to create an enticing home page. I also added to her "About" page by including a FAQ section. Together we also redid her online storefront. I was able to test her candles and add a more detailed description about each candle to the site. I also helped Lydia with her Instagram. Not only was I able to grow her account but also helped her sell more candles through her social media.
